The Magician

This image is from my newest project: Remaking Tarot cards - without people. This particular image is my interpretation of “The Magician” card. There will be a total of 9 images in the series when I finish :)

These four images were taken for a self-directed task. I decided to take "self-portraits" without my body appearing in them. Instead, I used objects that best represent me. My red shoes appear in every image because that was the best visual representation of me as I wear them all the time.
Other objects that appear in the images say something different about me in each image. The top image is of the contents of my handbag emptied out neatly onto the grass, to show all the items that I like to carry with me at all times. The second image is of an easel with an artwork of mine sitting on it beside the lake. The third image is of my computer and a book in a park, while the last image is of a Uruguayan jacket, Uruguayan flag and a Uruguayan máte, showing my Uruguayan heritage.

In my new photography assignment, I decided to take commercial style photographs of my favourite food - cupcakes! I took several different sets of photographs and am still in the process of editing them. This was one of the cupcake images that I loved, but didn't make it to the final cut.
Soon the whole series should be up.
Enjoy!

Penelope

Recently, I realised that I hadn't posted anything for ages! To re-start my posts, here is a photo of my chicken, Penelope :)

Canberra National Museum at night, panorama. Taken 27/9/11.
Another of Courage.
Courage - ISO 125 film photograph, produced traditionally in a darkroom. Taken for a photography assignment where we had to produce 5 images that were inspired by a book, movie or song. My series was inspired by the French movie "Amelie".

Really pretty flower from the Botanic Gardens. :) Taken early August 2011.
Not quite modernism, but I still think it looks really interesting. Taken on 30/8/11.
Pretty flowers in my backyard :) I really like the light in the background of this image as well, it adds an interesting effect. Taken on 26/8/11.
In my film photography class we are studying modernism and I have chosen to make still life images, which was a bit more challenging than the other choices (Architecture and human form). In this still life I used; 2 wine glasses and an attachment of a smoking table.

This photograph was taken at the National Botanic Gardens on the weekend (13/8/11). I thought that the plant looked pretty interesting, so I decided to make it the main subject for the image, instead of the purple flowers, which add to the background.

Hey everyone! Sorry I haven't been posting much recently. I have made a Tumblr account and also a DeviantArt account, which I will be posting most of my stuff from now on. I will still come here and post stuff too though!

I really like the detail in this photo. I don't have a macro lens yet, but the close-ups on my Nikon seem to work quite nicely, in my opinion! :) (It looks a lot better if you click on the photo, I promise!) Aperture f/5.6. Photo taken March 2011.

Sydney Opera House. Not really the best photo, just thought I'd add it in here anyway though. The photo was taken from the Harbour Bridge. Aperture f/9.0. Photo taken March 2011.
Interesting-looking apartment block in Sydney. Aperture 6.3. Photo taken March 2011.

Yet another pretty flower :) Aperture 5.6, natural light. Photo taken December 2010.
I should probably mention - most of the photos I take are in natural light as I prefer not to use flash unless it's really necessary.

The Blue Mountains. Aperture f/4.0. Photo taken January 2009 (Sorry these photos aren't in any kind of order, hopefully from now on they'll be in chronological order to make it a bit less confusing...)
